The Pass Plus scheme is a driving training programme that has been designed for the recently passed driver. The scheme was set-up by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) in conjunction with a number of insurance companies and driving instruction organisations.

Each course consists of six driving lessons that cover specific driving circumstances such as driving at night, driving in hazardous weather conditions, motor and dual carriageway experience. The training that is involved is designed to make you a better, more rounded driver, which can enable insurance companies who recognise the scheme to be able to offer you certain insurance discounts.

The course does not end in a test as your Pass Plus instructor will be continually monitoring and assessing your competence throughout.

To fully benefit from this course there are a number of requirements that will need to be complied with which include the need for a clean drivers licence and that you have only passed your test within the last year. Other insurers may have differing requirements so it is well worthwhile checking what these are before you book your Pass Plus course.
