What if I give you incorrect details about my car, will my policy be void?

Normally if you have mistakenly given an incorrect detail about your vehicle, your motor insurance company will ask you to pay the additional premium to correct your policy. They are not under obligation to do this but it is common practice where a minor detail has been input in error.

If there are serious discrepancies between the basis on which your policy is based and your real vehicle details, then a policy could be voided.

This means that your insurance policy will be declared void meaning that effectively no cover was ever in force and a full refund will be issued. If the police are involved then this could mean you get an IN10 (Driving without insurance ) conviction leading to a serious fine, potential multiple points and even a possible ban.

You will also have to declare this to any new insurance company you deal with in future and many motor insurance companies will not accept drivers that have previously had their insurance contracts voided.
