Legally, what level of motor insurance do I require?
In the Road Traffic Act, it states that the required level of motor insurance cover is at a level where all motorists should be insured against their liability for injuries to others (including passengers) and also for the damage caused to a third parties vehicle when having use of your own vehicle in a public place or on a road.
This minimum cover level is often referred to as Third Party Only cover. If you do not have at least this level of cover and are driving about in a car in the above circumstance it is an offence.
