After a claim, do I lose all my no claims bonus?
In the event of an accident that was deemed your fault, or an accident where you have had to make a claim on your own motor insurance, you will normally be stepped back a number of years.
This completely depends on your insurer, however most will step you back 2 years, from a maxmium of 4. For example; if you had 6 years no claims bonus without protection and had an accident that was your fault, you would step back to 2 years no claims bonus.
This is because you would be taken back from the maximum of 4 years, and would also not recieve your extra year no claims bonus on your motor insurance renewal.
